Woodland is pleased to announce all our replacement timber windows and doors now incorporate warm-edge technology for even better thermal performance.
The two panes of glass in a double glazed unit are separated by a spacer bar. Traditionally this spacer bar would have been Aluminium or a similar material. Aluminium is an excellent conductor of heat, but that means it transfers the cold from outside to inside very quickly. The edge of a window is often colder than the centre of a window as a result, meaning the u value is poorer and condensation can often be an issue, even in double glazed windows.
Warm edge spacer is made from material which is a much better insulator than Aluminium or other metal spacer bars. This means the overall thermal performance of the window is improved and the chances of condensation forming are minimised. Most importantly, the look of the window is not compromised. In fact, we think the new spacer system looks much better than the old.
Warm-edge technology and gas filling mean our standard sash windows have a U-value of 1.5, which exceeds the current Building Regulations requirements.
