Our traditional box sash windows can be manufactured to a wide variety of
specifications. Often glazing bars divide the windows and we pride ourselves on
manufacturing traditional style glazing bars holding individual sealed units.
Alternatively, where necessity dictates these glazing bars can be bonded to the
surface of the glass.
Only the highest quality materials are used. The window frames are made from
carefully selected Scandinavian Redwood, and the sashes and cills are
constructed from durable hardwood. All joints are mortice and tenon in the
traditional manner and pinned and glued with exterior grade resin glue. All
timber sections are traditionally moulded. An 80mm traditionally shaped sash
horn is integral to all box sash windows, unless otherwise specified.
Through experience and applied thinking, Woodland has developed a highly
effective method of weather sealing on all our products. Our box sash windows
incorporate vertical brush draught excluders to the concealed edges of the sashes,
and horizontal weather sealing to the top, middle and bottom of our traditional
window designs. Draughts are thus avoided and a quiet and smooth sliding movement is achieved – a decided improvement on most original designs. Woodland sashes are counterbalanced in the traditional manner – with cast lead weights, cords and brass pulleys – a proven reliable system confirmed by our experience. Each Woodland traditional box sash window is fitted with solid brass fitch fasteners, ‘D’ handles and sash lifts as standard. Security locks may also be fitted. Chrome and Satin chrome fittings are also available. The installation of box sash windows – more so than with other windows – demands special skills. Woodland’s own team of experienced installers have these skills and experience and take pride in the work they do and the care they take. |
